1.- «Analysis of geotechnical failure modes of a caisson quay.»

Autores: J. González

Keywords: quay, caisson, failure mechanism, soil strength.

Resumen: The caissons are a solution widely used in Spain for the construction of gravity quays. The three main types of failure of these structures are the surface sliding, the bearing failure through the rock-fill berm and the deep bearing failure through the natural ground. The type of failure is governed by the value of the actions, the shear strength of the rock-fill berm and the strength of the natural soil. In the case of a failure, the knowledge of the mechanism of the failure can give us certain information about the strength of the ground if actions and rock-fill berm strength are known.
